About the Florists

Flora Exotica is a labour of love for Mistress J’roshi Jesal. Boasting the ability to acquire plants from nearly every corner of the star, it’s no wonder she owns and operates one of the leading floral boutiques in Ul’dah; no blossom or greenery will ever find itself outside of her reach.

Common or Garden

While not the extent of her wares, these are some of the flowers to be found within the shop...

NameDescription
ViolasWhile violas are a perennial plant, the heat of summer is often too much for them to stand, and they tend to die out to be replanted each year. Be sure to keep area clear of leaf litter and regularly deadhead, for maximum bloom times.
HyacinthsSimple to grow from bulbs, hyacinths pack a punch in both vibrant and intense colours to their heady fragrance. Their flowers are compact on shorter stems, making them an excellent partner to tulips or daffodils.
TulipsAnother perennial plant, tulips grow from bulbs rather than seeds. Their blooms are varied in colour and cup variety, are best grown in the spring, and are excellent for arrangements with their long stems and foliage. Bulbs may be removed, or left for the following spring.
DaisiesLikely the flower with one of the most varieties, daisies are incredibly popular flowers for gardens, and nosegays, due to their bright and cheerful colours, as well as their simplicity to grow and maintain.
CosmosDaisy-like and easy to grow, cosmos are freely flowering annual plants that make for a cloud of colour to any garden. Hardy and resilient, they are ideal for summer planting, though thrive in nearly any humidity level.
Old RosesOld Roses, or Heirloom Roses, have many difficult cultivars, but are easily discernable from the Modern Rose introduced later. Heirloom Roses bloom once a year on old wood, but their enchanting fragrance makes them well worth the short lived blossoms.
BrightliliesA summer loving flower and a favorite for arrangements, lilies grow on very strong stems and have a strong fragrance made only moreso during a humid night. Their many varied species offer bursts of colour to any garden or vase.
CampanulasSometimes referred to as bellflowers, campanulas make for cheery perennial flowers. Their easy maintenance is the perfect trade off for their soft colours. Similar to violas, deadheading is encouraged to promote more and longer lasting blooms.
HydrangeasA very popular shrug, hydrangeas bloom throughout the summer and into fall. While they range in colours from your normal pink, blue, or purple, there are also varieties with white, green, or even red flowers. The colour of a hydrangea can be influenced by different pomaces being introduced to the soil.
DahliasBoasting a variety of intense colours, dahlias are easy to maintain in the right circumstances. A late blooming flower, once it reaches a certain height, it is recommended to pinch out the center bud to encourage multiple stems and flowers.

About the Florists

When asked, J'roshi will answer that botany was her first love, and has since been her truest love since her youth. While at first it was simply a means for survival, it soon became more than a hobby, and more like a passion. Boundless knowledge beckoned to the Miqo'te, with the enticing promise of more wherever her travels took her. Ever the creative, to see the way different blossoms complemented the others in ways most unique was only a natural evolution of her study as her 'roots' became more settled in Ul'dah. Quite willing and able to provide for the elite and upper class of the Jewel of the Desert, and their penchant for expensive things for the sake of being expensive, the boutique was only the beginning of her new line of business.
